PGA Golf Professional
Jack Gibson has been in the golf profession for over forty years and is the Director of Instruction for VIP Golf Academy in the Palm Springs area of California. Jack is also Teaching Professional at the prestigious La Quinta Country Club, original home of the Bob Hope Classic. Jack started his golf career at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas where he had the opportunity to play with the great Byron Nelson and spent many hours watching Ben Hogan play and practice. More recently Jack was Director of Instruction at Cabo Del Sol in Los Cabos, Mexico where he feels he really became a good teacher while working with tourists, club members and juniors. Teaching such a wide variety of students was something he had not experienced as a Head Pro in the U. S. and allowed him to further develop his communication and teaching skills to fit students of all abilities, motivations and often a foreign language. While in Mexico Jack was nominated by GOLF Magazine for their “Top 100 Teachers” list. He returned to California and La Quinta in 2005.

Teaching philosophy...
Jack believes that much golf instruction has become too detailed and complex for most golfers regardless of their ability or experience. Too much emphasis is often placed on having the student try to achieve body positions or movements they have little chance of actually being able to accomplish after the lesson. After a few “basics” like grip, allignment and balance, Jack believes the student can progress faster and have something to “take home” by concentration on rhythm, timing and feel of the club head. Jack’s students learn the importance of the “release” of the club head and “release” of the right side to allow for efficient weight transfer and added distance.
Career highlights...
When a student calls or e-mails saying that his lessons were the best they have had and their golf game is showing marked improvement.
